What Cufflinks To Wear On What Occasion

What Cufflinks To Wear On What Occasion

February 07, 2018

Accessories are the small fantastic things that often dot the i's and cross the t's to a stylish outfit. In other words, it's all in the details. What cufflinks you decide to wear can thereby have a great impact on how your style is perceived by your surroundings.

"Every man's life ends the same way. It is only the details of how he lived and how he died that distinguish one man from another."

- Ernest Hemingway

Cufflinks are usually worn to double-cuffed shirts and come in many different types of designs and constructions. There is an old rule, which today can be regarded as highly outdated, that round buttons are worn to rounded corners of the cuff and that angular buttons are worn to angular corners. This rule can be ignored today. Different buttons are buttoned in different ways. See examples of today's two most common buttons below. There is also a third buttoning in which the buttons are connected with a snail chain that is considered very elegant. Unfortunately, these buttons are more unusual today as they do not tie the shirt's cuffs very well unless you wear a very rigid white tie shirt.
